Ike Osakwe - Financial management
Overview
Ike Osakwe is a chartered accountant registered in the UK and resident in Nigeria. He is Managing Director of Health Partners International’s associate company in Nigeria, GRID Consulting Ltd, a consulting firm specialising in the planning and implementation of change processes and systems in commerce, industry, government and non-governmental organisations (NGOs).
Background and relevant experience
Ike has more than 25 years of experience in financial managment, strategic and corporate planning, organisational systems reviews, accounting systems development and feasibility studies. He has designed and implemented effective and appropriate financial management systems for the private and public sectors.
Ike’s consultancy assignments include:
- acting as senior financial management consultant for the Benue Health Fund Project in Nigeria (1999–2001), supported by the UK Department for International Development (DFID)
- the Institutional Strengthening Project for the Christian Health Association of Nigeria (2000-3), supported by DFID
- providing services as a financial management adviser to the Tanzania Ministry of Health in its Hospital Reform Programme (1997–2002)
- financial consultancy to the Ministry of Health in Ghana (2000–4).
Ike is part of the management bodies for the Partnership for Reviving Routine Immunization in Northern Nigeria (PRRINN) (2006–11) and the Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) programmes (2008-2013) in Nigeria, of which GRID is a partner. He was previously on the management body for the Partnership for Transforming Health Systems (PATHS) programme (2002–8) in Nigeria.
Ike sits on the boards of four quoted Nigerian companies and has served on several public commissions charged with introducing efficiency measures into the operations of key government parastatals. These include:
- the Nigerian Presidential Implementation Subcommittee for the commercialisation of Nigerian Telecommunications Ltd (NITEL)
- the Nigerian Technical Subcommittee for the Commercialisation of the Federal Housing Authority.
